Kotobukiya, a Japanese toy company, recently announced that the latest product in its popular Bishoujo plastic model kit series 'Frame Arms Girl', 'Kongo', is scheduled for release in May 2023.
The original design for FRAME ARMS GIRL Kongo comes from the Frame Arms mecha designed by Takayuki Yanase, whose name and design incorporate elements of the famous Japanese cruiser 'Kongo' from WWII. For the Bishoujo adaptation, illustrator Fumikane Shimada designed the base body as a short-haired girl with her left eye covered, possessing a remarkably full and attractive figure. The armaments largely inherit the original Frame Arms mecha's design, re-engineered into enhanced armor equipped with numerous shields and high-firepower weapons.
The 'FRAME ARMS GIRL Kongo' features entirely new parts for both the base body and armor. It includes unarmored limb parts to recreate the base body state, and various interchangeable hand parts. The exquisitely designed parts faithfully reproduce her full and attractive figure, with articulated joints that maintain design integrity, allowing for charming poses while preserving the elegant curves of her chest, back, and hips. The movable waist armor design also expands the range of motion for her thighs. Three pre-printed face parts are included: a front-facing normal face, a smiling face looking left, and a gritting-teeth face for when she's injured, allowing for changes based on the scene.
By replacing the limbs and attaching the head and back equipment, the armed form can be recreated. The design largely inherits the characteristics of the Frame Arms mecha version; for instance, the hat and leg armor are originally the head and legs of the Frame Arms Kongo. Armaments such as antennas, radar, turbo propellers, turrets, and torpedoes are designed to be suspended on movable back supports, allowing them to flexibly deploy in various directions to change the unit's silhouette. Furthermore, the side armor can transform to recreate its distinctive ship form.
Orders placed for this product at the official KOTOBUKIYA SHOP will receive a limited bonus: a set of 'M.S.G Weapon Unit Twin Cannon' with a special molding color matching Kongo's armor. These can be attached to various parts of the body using the standard 3mm pegs.
