Japan's official "Mobile Suit Gundam" Gunpla flagship store GUNDAM BASE recently announced the latest limited edition product from "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz", "MG 1/100 Wing Gundam Zero EW Ver.Ka [Titanium Finish]", scheduled for release on December 24, 2022.
The XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero EW is the successor mobile suit piloted by protagonist Heero Yuy in the OVA "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz", designed by mechanical designer KATOKI HAJIME. Its status is equivalent to the Wing Gundam Zero from the TV anime series. The EW version's design and color scheme were significantly modified compared to the TV anime version, especially the back wings, which were changed to more distinctive and organic-looking white feathered wings. These not only greatly enhance mobility but can also envelop and protect the fuselage to form the "Atmospheric Entry Mode". Its main weapon is also the familiar "Twin Buster Rifle", capable of destroying an entire space colony with a single shot at maximum output.
The "MG 1/100 Wing Gundam Zero EW Ver.Ka [Titanium Finish]" is a modification of the previously released regular version. The overall design is supervised by mechanical designer KATOKI HAJIME, meticulously reproducing its slender physique and elegant, streamlined wings with precise part separation and color molding. The joint design has been thoroughly reviewed and verified, featuring armor interlocking mechanisms for more natural movements. Pull-out shoulder joints and dedicated pegs hidden within the forearm armor allow for recreating the iconic Twin Buster Rifle firing pose. Furthermore, it incorporates the newly designed "NEO BIRD Mode" transformation mechanism, capable of reproducing both "Atmospheric" and "Space" modes.
What sets this limited edition apart is that all white armor parts on the entire mobile suit have undergone "TITANIUM FINISH" processing. This involves a plating followed by a coating process, giving the parts a frosted metallic texture reminiscent of titanium alloy. The yellow sections have also been changed to gold-plated parts, while blue, red, and dark gray areas are produced with metallic molded colors, allowing for the assembly of a Wing Gundam Zero EW Ver.Ka with a luxurious metallic feel.
