Following the VF-25F Messiah & Ranka Lee, the 'V.F.G.' series of Macross mecha girl plastic models, launched by Aoshima Bunka Kyozai's plastic model brand ACKS, recently announced its latest product from Macross Frontier, the "VF-25F Messiah & Ranka Lee Macross 40th Anniversary Ver.", slated for release in June 2023.
'Variable Fighter Girl' is a plastic model product that combines transformable fighters from the Macross series with an articulated girl body, the 'VF Girl'. The fighter itself can replicate its three transformation stages from the anime, while the 'VF Girl' body features excellent articulation and can be posed in various ways with interchangeable expressions, hands, and accessories. Both can be enjoyed individually, and they can also be combined into cool and cute mecha girl forms through an original transformation mechanism.
This kit is an updated version based on the regular edition released in June 2022, including all content from the regular edition plus a wealth of new accessories. The molded color of the VF-25F Messiah's parts has been changed to an original Macross 40th Anniversary color scheme, and it comes with newly designed decals to recreate the orange and yellow ribbon pattern on the aircraft, echoing Ranka's "Seikan Hikou" outfit. Ranka herself also includes a complete set of fabric "Seikan Hikou" costume, faithfully reproducing her appearance from the anime.
The accessories also include commemorative edition bonuses not found in the regular version, such as 3 types of "unpainted expression parts", a "microphone stand", the famous "Tuna Bun" dish from the in-show restaurant Nyan-Nyan, a "Valkyrie-shaped backpack", a "key", a "bento box", a "mini GUNPOD", a "pickaxe", a "safety helmet", and a "paper airplane", among other abundant parts, though they require self-painting.
The rest of the content and playability are the same as the regular edition. The Messiah can recreate its FIGHTER, GERWALK, and BATTROID forms through partial transformation and interchangeable parts, and combine with the Ranka Lee body to form a mecha girl. Furthermore, it includes three pre-painted expression parts, interchangeable costume parts to recreate the famous song "Dynam Chogokin", a giant salamander mobile phone, the pet Ai-kun, a microphone... and other abundant accessories for Ranka, allowing one product to capture Ranka's original cool mecha girl form and her idol appearance when singing and dancing!
