The HG (High Grade) series of 1/144 scale Gunpla, known for its diverse range of mobile suits and produced by the HOBBY Division of BANDAI SPIRITS Company of Japan, has announced that the latest product from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, the "HG 1/144 Demi Barding," is scheduled for release on June 10, 2023.
The MSJ-R122 Demi Barding is the latest model in the Demi series developed by Brion Corporation. In addition to inheriting the series' characteristic exterior design and excellent maintainability, it was also built with higher specifications and performance without sparing any expense. Before official mass production, a prototype unit was sent to Asticassia School of Technology for testing; however, while still undergoing adjustments, it encountered Norea Du Noc piloting the Gundam Thorn, which engaged in indiscriminate destruction. In this crisis, the surviving students broke down the barriers between Earthians and Spacians, and Cecilia lent this unit to Chuchu to pilot, confronting the Gundvolva controlled by the Gundam Thorn.
The "HG 1/144 Demi Barding" is a modification based on the previously released Demi Trainer series kits, continuing its refined, easy-to-assemble construction and flexible articulation design. It utilizes a large number of new parts to recreate its distinctive head, additional armor throughout the body, thrusters, and beam rifle.
The beam saber hilts can be stored in the thrusters on both sides of the legs, while the large beam rifle can deploy an auxiliary grip to recreate a two-handed firing pose. Furthermore, the large backpack, designed for Chuchu's preferred long-range bombardment tactics and not yet seen in the series, has also been rendered in three dimensions with new parts, recreating the rotating articulation mechanism of its two cannon barrels.
