Japan's model tool manufacturer GodHand today announced the official release of its latest entry-level model nipper, the "Single-Edged Nipper ST". The product is currently available for pre-sale on GodHand's official online store, with general retail channels expected to begin sales sequentially in late January 2023.
GodHand has long been renowned for its high-end single-edged nippers, the "SPN-120 Ultimate Nipper", known for their extreme thinness, sharpness, and minimal stress whitening on cut surfaces. They are truly an indispensable "graduation" tool for every modeler. In 2023, GodHand once again introduces a brand-new entry-level single-edged nipper, the "Single-Edged Nipper ST". Like the SPN-120, it features a structure with one cutting blade and one anvil blade, allowing for flatter cuts and reduced plastic whitening compared to double-edged nippers.
The "Single-Edged Nipper ST" is made from stainless steel. While its blade thinness and sharpness may not match the high-end SPN-120 or the advanced PN-120, it boasts excellent characteristics with a sharpness rating of 3.5 and a blade hardness of HRC49-55. Compared to carbon steel used in mechanical structures, which requires frequent rust prevention and maintenance, stainless steel is far more resistant to rust. The increased thickness, which enhances durability, also allows beginners to cut with confidence, unlike the SPN-120 where a broken blade can be heartbreaking. However, it is best used only on PS, PP, ABS, and PE resins with a diameter of 3mm or less, as officially recommended. Absolutely do not use it to cut metal.
Furthermore, this nipper features a locking mechanism that keeps the nipper closed when stored, enhancing convenience and safety.
