So This Is What an Anime Girl's Skull Looks Like? Sculptor Tomohide Enoki Announces 『2D-Style Skeletal Specimen Girl Tomii ANNA』 for His 25th Anniversary!

Freelance sculptor Tomohide Enoki, who has sculpted for Japan's Kaiyodo models, including works from "Neon Genesis Evangelion," "Yotsuba&!," and numerous gashapon products, recently officially announced the release of his original commemorative product, the "2D-Style Skeletal Specimen Girl Tomii ANNA GK Model Kit," to celebrate his 25th anniversary.

The mainstream moe-style bishojo drawing in the Japanese anime and manga industry features sparkling large eyes that occupy a significant portion of the face, rounded cheeks, sharp chins, and other characteristics. The question of how to represent the skeletons of humans who only exist in two dimensions is a topic that has been discussed and created around from time to time. This time, Tomohide Enoki has revisited this topic, releasing his personally designed and sculpted new work, the "2D-Style Skeletal Specimen Girl Tomii ANNA GK Model Kit," which immediately garnered significant discussion on Twitter after its announcement.

This work is a bust model composed of 30 parts, approximately 1/6 scale. At first glance, it appears to be a normal bishojo bust, but during assembly, it becomes apparent that all hair and skin parts are designed to be detachable. Once removed, it reveals Tomohide Enoki's designed "2D-style skeletal specimen," which incorporates various moe-style features such as large eyes. The enormous eye sockets occupy a large proportion of the head, while the teeth and sternum are unusually small, making it appear quite grotesque yet somewhat cute.

Furthermore, Tomohide Enoki's researched "three-dimensional pupil sculpting" technique has been further upgraded this time. The eyeball parts feature a three-layered concave design for the whites of the eyes, upper gloss, iris gradient, and pupil, allowing for a more profound and three-dimensional visual effect. Additionally, the product will include a bonus lenticular card that, depending on the viewing angle, can display two forms: "Normal Tomii ANNA" and "Skeletal Tomii ANNA"!
