Released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectors division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., the "S.H.MonsterArts" series, which combines exquisite monster sculpting with outstanding articulation technology, today announced the latest product, "Iris," from the Japanese tokusatsu monster film masterpiece "Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris," scheduled for release in August 2023.

The monster Iris, appearing in the film, is Gamera's primary adversary, known by its ancient name "Ryuseicho." Legend has it that once Ryuseicho revives, it will bring about the end of the world, thus it was sealed in a deep mountain shrine in Minami Asuka Village, Japan. However, Ayana Hirasaka, a girl who deeply resented Gamera after her parents perished in a monster battle, broke the seal and named it "Iris" after her deceased pet cat. From then on, Iris rapidly grew by preying on animals and draining human bodily fluids and DNA, evolving into a 99-meter-tall humanoid monster. Ayana fully conveyed her desire for revenge against Gamera to Iris, believing it could kill Gamera for her.

The "S.H.MonsterArts Iris" is thoroughly supervised by tokusatsu sculptor Fuyuki Shinada, who was responsible for Iris's design in the film. Aiming for the definitive version with ultimate sculpting, it meticulously sculpts the cool and imposing appearance from the Kyoto decisive battle. Not only are the highly organic muscle lines and carapace patterns intricately detailed, but the head and chest also utilize clear materials to replicate a glowing effect. Multiple articulated joints are included in the limbs and each tentacle, allowing for the recreation of its battle poses from the film.

Furthermore, its flying form can be recreated using interchangeable parts. Clear parts are used to depict the membranes spread between its tentacles, showcasing an elegant flying posture. Some areas are also finished with a soft, pearlescent coating. When displayed on its dedicated stand, it can recreate the iconic scene of it soaring under the moonlight from the film!
