Following the high-end GK model series 'Phantom Ultimate Sculpting' launched by Japanese model maker CCP, and after the Gamera 3 (1999) sculpted by master sculptor Ryu Oyama, they have once again announced their latest collaboration with renowned Japanese sculptor Yuki Otaka (Kokuryu Kobo), the 'Gamera 3 (1999) Head Model', scheduled for release in December 2023. This product will be available in two versions: an 'Unpainted GK Kit' and a 'Pre-painted Finished Product'.
The prototype for this product originated from a commemorative item released by Kokuryu Kobo at Wonder Festival 2022 [Winter], Japan's largest model exhibition held in 2022, to celebrate the studio's 10th anniversary. All 120 GK kits released on that day sold out completely, and the mere 5 FRP pre-painted finished products were sold via lottery, demonstrating immense popularity. Subsequently, production line issues prevented further sales even after obtaining the license. Now, thanks to the collaboration with CCP, more Gamera fans will finally have the opportunity to acquire this masterpiece once again!
This product boasts an imposing size of H45cm × L43cm × W34cm, and is crafted from PS and PU materials, meticulously reproducing the intricate details sculpted by Master Otaka. From the characteristic spines around G3's head, the textures and wrinkles on its skin, to the irregular teeth and gum details inside its mouth, a lifelike Gamera is presented. It possesses sharp details and a sense of biological realism that cannot be achieved by mass-produced items, capturing the even cooler and more fearsome appearance from "Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris".
The unpainted GK kit version requires self-assembly and painting. All parts have been sanded and cleaned, ready for direct painting, and some parts are pre-pinned for convenience. The pre-painted finished product version is painted according to the sample images provided by Master Otaka. However, as the sample uses some FRP material and glass bead eyeballs, the actual product's appearance may vary.
Furthermore, CCP has considered that not all collectors can display the Gamera head model by hanging it on a wall. Therefore, both versions will feature a new base specification that allows for both wall-mounting and flat surface display, enabling display according to the conditions of your collection space.
