The plastic model kit series 'MODEROID', launched by Japan's MECHA SMILE brand, today announced its latest product from "Madō King Granzort", "Hydram, the Evil King of Water", scheduled for release in September 2023.
Appearing in the series, the "Three Evil Kings of Darkness"—Wyvern, Harpia, and Hydram—were developed by the human scientist Dr. Bibble of the Jado Empire. After analyzing the battle data of the original three Madō Kings, he created these "anti-Madō King specialized demon gods" using a special alloy capable of absorbing Jado Power and self-repairing. With sufficient Jado Power, they possess extremely high combat capabilities, rivaling the Madō Kings. In addition to the high-defense Giant Face Mode and close-combat Battle Mode, they also feature a Beast Mode, which the original Madō Kings lacked, allowing them to gain a terrain advantage.
The "MODEROID Hydram" kit consists of multi-color molded parts and pre-painted parts. Once assembled, it stands approximately 14 cm tall, perfectly recreating its Kappa-like head design and the numerous yellow fin-shaped armor pieces across its body. It features flexible articulated joints, allowing for dynamic battle poses when combined with its trident weapon "Spear Schwarz" and interchangeable hand parts. The unit also boasts a three-stage transformation mechanism for Giant Face, Battle, and Beast Modes, reproducing its sea monster-like, four-legged walking evil form. A magic circle-shaped display stand for Giant Face Mode is also included.
