BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has announced today the latest product from the 'SDCS (SD CROSS SILHOUETTE)' model kit series, which allows for free transformation between high and low head-to-body ratio frames. The new item, "Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee (Destroy Mode) & Norn Parts Set" from 'Mobile Suit Gundam UC', is scheduled for release in July 2023.
The RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Unit 02 "Banshee" was developed in a gravity environment based on feedback from Unit 01's spatial maneuverability. Its basic performance does not differ significantly from Unit 01, but it possesses various psycho-frame-equipped specialized armaments known as "Armed Armor". In the anime version, the Banshee further evolved into a completely new form, the "Norn" type, with comprehensively enhanced armaments and performance. The "Armed Armor XC" mounted on its back not only serves as an additional generator but also links with the head antenna to enhance its ability to send and receive psycho-waves, allowing even Lieutenant Riddhe, who has lower Newtype abilities, to receive these waves.
The "SDCS Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee (Destroy Mode) & Norn Parts Set" continues the series' characteristic inclusion of both the low-head-to-body "SD Frame" and the high-head-to-body "CS Frame", allowing for free customization of the body proportion according to preference. The eye stickers also include two types: the classic SD Gundam eyes with pupils and the twin-eye camera without pupils. The main body is modified from previously released Unicorn series kits, faithfully reproducing its distinctive black armor, orange-yellow psycho-frame, and head antenna.
In addition to the Beam Magnum, Beam Saber, and Armed Armor DE, which are common to the series, this kit also includes three newly molded Armed Armors: BS, VN, and XC, as well as the Revolving Launcher that attaches beneath the Beam Magnum. The exposed psycho-frame of the Armed Armor BS is recreated using 3D metallic stickers. This allows for free conversion between two forms: Banshee (Destroy Mode) and Banshee Norn (Destroy Mode)!
