Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division's dinosaur-themed model kit series, 『PLANNOSAURUS』, recently announced its latest product, the "Spinosaurus", with a suggested retail price of 1,595 JPY, scheduled for release in July 2023.
The "PLANNOSAURUS" series, which meticulously recreates dinosaurs from their skeletons to their outer skin, is supervised by Japanese reptile and dinosaur researcher Dr. Kyoichi Tomita. Based on the latest theories and scientific knowledge, it reproduces biological characteristics, allowing both children and adults to learn about dinosaurs during the assembly process.
The "PLANNOSAURUS Spinosaurus" model's parts are mainly divided into two sections: skeleton and outer skin. It meticulously reproduces the characteristic sail-like dorsal spine, the sharp claws of its forelimbs, the shape of its eye sockets believed to be useful for exploring aquatic environments, and the gastralia (belly ribs) that protect its organs from water pressure. The model can be easily disassembled and assembled without the need for nippers or adhesive, allowing for free customization into different appearances. Additionally, it features movable joints for the mouth, tongue, limbs, and neck, enabling a wide range of posing options.
