Following the VF-31A Kairos released in 2018 by Aoshima Bunka Kyozai's plastic model brand ACKS under their "V.F.G." series of "Macross" Variable Fighter Girl plastic models, an upgraded version with partially improved designs, the "VF-31A Kairos SP", has been announced today, 5 years later, and is scheduled for release in August 2023.
"Variable Fighter Girl" is a plastic model product that combines the transformable fighters from the "Macross" series with an articulated girl body, the "VF Girl". The fighter itself can replicate the three transformation stages from the anime, while the "VF Girl" body features excellent articulation and can be posed in various ways with interchangeable expressions, hands, and accessories. Not only can both be enjoyed separately, but they can also be combined into cool and cute Variable Fighter Girl forms through an original equipping mechanism.
This time, the fighter Kairos from "Macross Delta" is once again being commercialized. The VF Girl body, standing approximately 155mm tall, remains largely unchanged. It is still designed as a grey-haired cat-girl from Planet Voldor. Corresponding to Kairos's distinctive single-eye design, the cat-girl features a slanted fringe covering her left eye, heterochromatic pupils, and other details. She also has a slender cat tail. With three interchangeable expressions and a front hair part that reveals both eyes, she can be posed in various adorable ways.
The main changes are in the fighter part. Hardpoints have been added to the main wings, allowing for the equipping of automatic decoy drones, the "Super Dimension Tuna". Additionally, the leg joints in GERWALK mode have been redesigned, allowing for a greater range of motion. Other parts remain the same. In addition to its original FIGHTER mode, it can also be combined with the VF Girl body using interchangeable parts to create Variable Fighter Girl-style GERWALK and BATTROID modes.
