Japanese model manufacturer Max Factory, known for its popular assembly model brand "PLAMAX" with an extremely rich variety of themes, recently announced the latest product from the theatrical anime film "Macross: Do You Remember Love?", the "PLAMAX 1/72 VF-1A/S Fighter Valkyrie (Hikaru Ichijo's Machine) FACTORY EDITION," scheduled for release in September 2023.
The variable fighter VF-1 Valkyrie, which first appeared in the original 1982 "Macross," is one of the most iconic machines in the series, actively participating in the "First Space War" between Earthlings and Zentradi. This machine was developed by the U.N. Spacy using super technology acquired from alien battleships, and is equipped with a nuclear fusion turbofan engine capable of continuous atmospheric flight for 700 hours. To combat the Zentradi, who are much larger than humans, it also features a three-stage transformation mechanism from fighter to robot. Its extremely high versatility led to the development of various specifications for this machine.
This product is a modified version of the regular edition released in 2022, reproducing the fighter mode Valkyrie piloted by protagonist Hikaru Ichijo in 1/72 scale with a total length of approximately 19 cm. It features high-density and realistic detailing, including the pilot figure, cockpit interior, fuselage lines, and internal mechanical structures. By replacing parts, it can reproduce both A-type and S-type nose cone designs, as well as the deployed state of the three landing gears.
This FACTORY EDITION version adjusts the molded color of the fuselage to a metallic silver that is less prone to show the base color and makes details more prominent. It also includes two types of fuselage markings: regular stickers and water decals. This makes it suitable for model builders with some experience to enjoy the fun of painting after assembly.
