To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the popular sci-fi anime "Macross," BANDAI SPIRITS' collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has announced the latest commemorative product from its transforming alloy model series, 『HI-METAL R』: the "VF-1A Valkyrie (Kakizaki Hayao's Machine)," scheduled for release in October 2023.
The variable fighter VF-1 Valkyrie, which appeared in the original 1982 "Macross," is one of the most iconic mecha in the series, playing an active role in the "First Space War" between Earthlings and Zentradi. This machine was developed by the Earth Unified Forces using super-technology acquired from alien warships, equipped with a nuclear fusion turbofan engine capable of continuous flight for 700 hours within an atmospheric environment. To combat the Zentradi, who are much larger than humans, it also features a three-stage transformation mechanism from fighter to robot. Its extreme versatility led to the development of various specifications, with the VF-1A being the mass-produced type piloted by general soldiers.
The "HI-METAL R VF-1A Valkyrie (Kakizaki Hayao's Machine)" is a modification of previously released VF-1 series machines. It thoroughly reproduces the distinctive white and brown color scheme and body markings of Kakizaki Hayao's machine, based on the TV anime settings. It also features precise articulated joints and a transformation mechanism design, faithfully recreating the impressive three-stage transformation. In Battroid form, "abdominal detail enhancement parts" can be replaced to significantly improve the detail sculpting.
Accessories include landing gear, a GUNPOD, missiles, a pilot figure, and round-shaped hands (5 types for the left, 3 types for the right) that reproduce the TV anime settings. Additionally, transparent brown and red dedicated display stands are included. When displayed with the separately sold "VF-1J Armored Valkyrie (Ichijo Hikaru's Machine) Revival Ver." and "VF-1A Valkyrie (Maximilian Jenius's Machine)," you can recreate the Vermilion Team's brief formation!
