FREEing (フリーイング), a Japanese toy company, will release the latest product from its "B-Style" series, which creates exquisite 1/4 scale character figures, in March 2024: the "Lum" (ラム) 1/4 scale PVC pre-painted figure from "Urusei Yatsura"!
The veteran Japanese manga artist Rumiko Takahashi's first long-running serialized manga, "Urusei Yatsura" (formerly translated in Taiwan as "Fukusei Yatsura"), begins with the alien Oni girl "Lum" invading Japan and attempting to conquer Earth. The lecherous boy "Ataru Moroboshi," cursed with bad luck, is forced to take on the great responsibility of saving Earth, engaging in a game of tag with Lum! Due to an accidental misunderstanding, Lum falls in love with Ataru, who unexpectedly wins, and thus begins their hilarious and absurd romantic comedy. In 2022, to commemorate Shogakukan's 100th anniversary, "Urusei Yatsura" was adapted into a TV anime again after 36 years, releasing a remastered version.
This B-style rendition of "Lum," sculpted in a prone pose with her elbows on the ground, stands approximately 15 cm tall and measures 27.5 cm long. It faithfully recreates Lum's signature tiger-striped bikini and long boots, as well as the small horns on her head and her long hair, primarily in green, blue, and black. The head sculpt is particularly outstanding, vividly capturing Lum's slightly surprised, subtly pouting expression. Despite the large expanse of exposed fair skin, the overall impression is one of pure, adorable, and healthy beauty – truly the youthful goddess of our childhood from every angle!
