Hong Kong toy brand Hot Toys, renowned globally for its realistic sculpting and high fidelity, today unveiled prototypes for two new 1/6 scale action figures from the 2022 series "Kamen Rider BLACK SUN": "Kamen Rider BLACK SUN" and "Kamen Rider SHADOWMOON". "Kamen Rider BLACK SUN," which premiered exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on October 28, 2022, is part of the 50th-anniversary project for the popular Japanese tokusatsu series "Kamen Rider." The series aims to return to its origins, remaking the popular 1987 work "Kamen Rider BLACK." Director Kazuya Shiraishi's new perspective presents the cruel fates and sorrowful story of the two protagonists, Kotaro Minami and Nobuhiko Akizuki. The designs of the Kamen Riders and Kaijin (monsters) in the series also differ from the original BLACK style, placing greater emphasis on the "Kaijin" as the primary subject, endowing them with realistic muscle lines, thorns, and carapace-like biological forms.

Judging from the prototypes currently released, the overall sculpting largely recreates the suit designs from the series. The entire body is intricately detailed with a realistic, biological feel, combining muscular bulk with insectoid exoskeletons. BLACK SUN and SHADOWMOON are finished with a glossy, carapace-like black and a heavy, substantial silver, respectively. Furthermore, the articulated joints are almost entirely concealed, and the head and belt can even light up, just like in the series' final battle, significantly enhancing the realism.
