Japanese toy brand stasto (スタンド・ストーンズ / Stand Stones) has teamed up with Japanese pseudo-creature artist Kumacoro (@s_kumaco) to release a very interesting gashapon series, "Sushi Nigiri Monsters Vol.1" (tentative translation, スシニギリス Vol.1), scheduled for October 2023!
Kumacoro, a pseudo-creature artist who was originally a toy manufacturer and is now a freelance creator, is best known for anthropomorphizing numerous "sushi" items, reinterpreting them as fierce monsters and fascinating ancient creatures, creating one delicious (?) sushi nigiri monster after another. Later, he not only expanded his creative themes beyond sushi to other food categories but also released his own fantastical bestiary.

This time, stasto is launching Kumacoro's most iconic sushi nigiri monsters, which appeared in "Still Life Encyclopedia ~Still Life and Ecology on the Dining Table~". The series includes five types: "Salmon," "Squid," "Tamago (Egg)," "Tuna," and "Salmon Roe Gunkan." Each figure measures approximately 5-7 cm. They not only boast excellent fidelity but are also crafted from transparent materials, achieving impressive results in the luster of the fish, the granular texture of the rice, and the translucent visual effect of the salmon roe. This is truly fascinating, and we eagerly anticipate seeing them in person!
