To commemorate the 15th anniversary of its robot-themed action figure series 'ROBOT魂', BANDAI SPIRITS' Collectors Toy Department TAMASHII NATIONS announced that it will hold a commemorative exhibition at its official flagship store, TAMASHII NATIONS STORE TOKYO, from September 16, 2023, to November 12, 2023. Simultaneously, they unveiled a commemorative product from 'Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans': the 'METAL ROBOT魂
After the Tekkadan engaged in a fierce battle with the Mobile Armor Hashmal on Mars, the heavily damaged Gundam Barbatos Lupus was sent to Saisei for extensive repairs. Incorporating battle data from Mikazuki Augus, whose 'Alaya-Vijnana System' had nearly merged him with Barbatos, the machine's reaction speed was successfully pushed to its limit. Each joint of the frame was precisely adjusted to synchronize with the pilot's movements, and external armor, the Tail Blade, and other equipment were crafted using parts from Hashmal. The reborn Gundam Barbatos was named 'Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex'.
The 'METAL ROBOT魂 Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex', released in 2020, was sculpted by Ryu Sakano and supervised by mechanical designer Naohiro Washio. It was designed to maximize both its in-show appearance and articulation, featuring the highest proportion of alloy content in the METAL ROBOT魂 series to date. Almost all parts of the frame, except for the head, are made of alloy and treated with electroplating. The entire exterior armor also features extensive metallic paintwork and printed markings, significantly enhancing the mechanical texture of the sculpt and its weighty feel during play.
Accessories include its characteristic armaments: the 'Ultra Large Mace', 'Heel Spikes', 'Tail Blade', and an 'eye-glowing effect' that evokes its demonic appearance. It also reproduces the cockpit and twin arm auxiliary arm deployment mechanisms, allowing for dynamic battle poses. This limited color edition appears to have the same basic accessories, but the overall color scheme has been re-adjusted, with the blue and other armor colors appearing more vibrant.
