The enchanting journey celebrating Disney's 100th anniversary by the Danish LEGO Group, following the spectacular flagship product, the "43222 Disney Castle," has surprisingly not yet concluded its magic of compelling fans to eagerly open their wallets! The new product, "43230 A Tribute to Walt Disney" (tentative translation, Walt Disney Tribute Camera), slated for release on September 1, 2023, was finally officially unveiled recently.
Update on July 11, 2023:
This 811-piece set allows builders to construct a 37 cm tall vintage film camera along with a clapperboard-shaped base that accommodates minifigures and a multiplane camera. The camera's design is exceptionally appealing, seamlessly integrating the 100th-anniversary numerals. It boasts a rotatable crank and lens, a sliding lens hood, and a studio interior that can be revealed by opening a side panel. Furthermore, it features highly accurate mechanical structures, a film strip crafted from soft material adorned with stills from 20 different movies, and a sturdy tripod supporting the camera. This LEGO brick-built model is truly an outstanding display piece.
Beyond the exquisite camera, another significant highlight of this set is its impressive minifigure lineup. It features classic black-and-white Mickey and Minnie, Dumbo, Bambi, and the truly surprising and delightful Walt Disney minifigure! These characters genuinely feel exclusive to Disney's 100th-anniversary celebration – an absolute must-buy! Furthermore, what this editor only fully appreciated after the complete reveal is the inclusion of the multiplane camera. It meticulously showcases three printed screens, which, as evident from the official images, depict scenes from the classic 1937 animated short film "The Old Mill." This detail powerfully conveys the historical significance of Disney's pioneering use of the multiplane camera in the creation of "The Old Mill."
