Japan's Fukuoka-based "Mobile Suit Gundam" themed facility GUNDAM SIDE-F, home to the popular life-sized ν Gundam statue, recently announced that its latest limited-edition product, "HG 1/144 GM III (Earth Federation Forces Specification / Bosch Weller Custom)" from "Mobile Suit Gundam F90," will be sold exclusively in-store and is set to release on July 29, 2023.
The RGM-79 GM is a mass-produced mobile suit developed using actual combat data from the RX-78-2 Gundam, with mass production beginning in the latter half of the One Year War. Its design focused on simplifying the mobile suit's structure and reducing manufacturing costs to boost productivity. While its performance was inferior to the Gundam, its advantages lay in rapid and large-scale production, relatively easy operation, and high versatility, allowing for modifications based on pilot or mission requirements. As mobile suit technology advanced, the GM line continued to introduce improved successor units across various eras, such as the "GM II" from "Z Gundam" and the "GM III" from "Gundam ZZ."
This limited-edition "HG 1/144 GM III (Earth Federation Forces Specification / Bosch Weller Custom)" is based on previously released GM III kits. Its molding colors have been changed to the red and white tones of the Earth Federation Forces specification, faithfully recreating the mobile suit piloted by ace pilot Lieutenant Junior Grade Bosch Weller when he transferred to the Londo Bell unit, as seen in "Mobile Suit Gundam F90."
The kit features flexible articulated joints, and the head visor is reproduced with clear parts. It includes water-slide decals with original model markings. The shoulder missile launchers can be recreated in their open, firing state by swapping parts, and the kit can be equipped with armaments such as a beam rifle, beam saber, and shield.
