Hong Kong toy brand Hot Toys, renowned for its high-end collectible action figures, has officially announced its latest product from the 2022 series Kamen Rider BLACK SUN, the "Kamen Rider Black Sun 1/6th Scale Collectible Figure," slated for release in October 2023. This product will be simultaneously launched in a regular edition and a special edition that includes a Red King Stone accessory.
The protagonist of the series Kamen Rider BLACK SUN, Kotaro Minami, was implanted with a King Stone by his father at the age of 11, becoming a Kaijin and a candidate for the "Creation King." In 1970s Japan, a period of escalating conflict between humans and Kaijin, Kotaro Minami, Nobuhiko Akizuki, and a group of Kaijin comrades formed the anti-discrimination group "Gorgom" to advocate for Kaijin rights, but it disintegrated due to intervention from the Japanese government. Fifty years later, Kotaro lives a reclusive life, earning dirty money. It wasn't until he met Aoi Izumi, a human girl who helps Kaijin speak out, that Kotaro awakened from his Kaijin form to become Kamen Rider Black Sun, determined to end the series of tragedies brought about by the "Creation King."
The "HOT TOYS Kamen Rider Black Sun 1/6th Scale Collectible Figure" boasts an impressive height of approximately 32 cm, meticulously recreating the jet-black body covered in muscle textures, wrinkles, and insectoid hard shells. It features over 30 points of articulation, with joints fully concealed to maintain a seamless appearance while offering a flexible range of motion, closely mimicking the authentic texture of the suit from the show. The figure's body not only reflects light under a blacklight, but its eyes and belt also feature built-in LED lights (USB powered) to illuminate and recreate its glowing appearance during the final battle!
Through interchangeable parts, the transformation belt can display two forms: mid-transformation and fully transformed. The disposable insect legs on both sides of the chest are detachable. By attaching various interchangeable hand parts and the "Century King Black Sword" parts, which are transformed insect legs, dynamic battle scenes can be recreated. The included display stand features a flexible gooseneck arm that can be bent to any angle to support the figure's poses. The base not only features the Kamen Rider BLACK SUN series logo but also has a silver nameplate on the front.
The special edition includes a "Red King Stone" accessory, identical in size to its in-show counterpart. Measuring 4 cm long, just like the one implanted in Kotaro Minami, it also contains a magnet, allowing it to attract and combine with the "Green King Stone" accessory included with the separately sold "Kamen Rider Shadow Moon 1/6th Scale Collectible Figure Special Edition." Furthermore, Hot Toys will also release Kotaro Minami's beloved motorcycle from the series, the "Battle Hopper," in the same 1/6th scale, allowing Kamen Rider Black Sun to ride it.
