To commemorate the 15th anniversary of its robot-themed action figure series "ROBOT魂", BANDAI SPIRITS' collector's toy division TAMASHII NATIONS recently unveiled full details for the commemorative item "METAL ROBOT魂 Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex -Limited Color Edition-". This product will be available through the CLUB TAMASHII MEMBERS service in three phases: advance sale, advance lottery sale, and post-event sale.
The commemorative item, "Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex", is the protagonist's mobile suit from the series "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans". After the fierce battle with the Mobile Armor Hashmal on Mars, the heavily damaged Gundam Barbatos Lupus was sent to Saisei for extensive repairs. Incorporating combat data from Mikazuki Augus, who had nearly merged with Barbatos through the "Alaya-Vijnana System", the machine's reaction speed was pushed to its limit. Each joint of the frame was precisely adjusted to synchronize with the pilot's movements, and external armor, the Tail Blade, and other equipment were crafted from parts salvaged from Hashmal. The reborn Gundam Barbatos was named "Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex".
The "METAL ROBOT魂 Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex -Limited Color Edition-" is based on the regular version released in 2020. It features the same impressive main body sculpted by Ryu Sakano and supervised by mechanical designer Naohiro Washio, boasting a high proportion of die-cast parts in its movable frame and flexible articulation. It comes with its signature armaments: the "Ultra Large Mace", "Heel Spikes", "Tail Blade", and "Eye Glow Effect" to replicate its demonic appearance. Additionally, it can reproduce the cockpit and twin arm auxiliary arm deployment mechanisms, allowing for dynamic battle poses that faithfully recreate anime scenes!
The accessories for the Limited Color Edition are essentially the same, but the overall color scheme has been re-adjusted, featuring new metallic, pearl, and gloss finishes. The gold, blue, and red armor across the entire body are rendered with metallic colors, while the white armor has been replaced with a pearl white coating. Naturally, the frame parts have also undergone electroplating, giving the entire figure a distinct, heavy metallic texture compared to the regular version. Furthermore, the display base, which features the Tekkadan logo, has been changed to a luxurious metallic red!
