Danish LEGO toy company yesterday (10th) unveiled its latest product, item number 10318, under its "Icons" series, one of the important symbols in aviation history, the LEGO-fied 「協和號客機」（Concorde）! It is expected to be released on September 7, 2023.
The "Concorde" was jointly developed by Aérospatiale (French Aerospace Company) and British Aircraft Corporation (BAC), a product of the Anglo-French supersonic transport program. Historically, it is known as "one of the few supersonic passenger jets to enter commercial service." Unlike the swept-back wings common in passenger aircraft, the Concorde features a delta wing design, coupled with its distinctive long, slender nose, making its appearance absolutely unforgettable. This LEGO rendition of the Concorde comprises a total of 2083 pieces, and once assembled, it reaches an astonishing length of 105 cm, truly a space-killer that will once again challenge the storage ingenuity of toy enthusiasts.
Beyond its incredibly high external fidelity, a major highlight of this LEGO Concorde is its "droop nose" structure. This feature originated because the Concorde's excessively long nose would restrict the pilot's visibility during takeoff and landing, and the angled design allows pilots to achieve a better field of view. Furthermore, this model includes movable landing gear, a retractable tail skid, elevons on the delta wings, articulated upper and lower rudders, and other playable mechanisms. The seating area is also exquisitely rendered, and with the included stand, it can be displayed in various poses such as takeoff, landing, or in-flight.
