Following the first installment of the 'M.S.G' assembly model accessory series, "Garuda Gear Unit 1 [White Whale]," developed by Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya (KOTOBUKIYA) for all modelers, the latest product, "Garuda Gear Unit 2 [Diablo]," was recently announced for release in December 2023.
The 'Variable Frame System' adopts a newly designed variable frame structure. Its various joints utilize a common 5mm shaft connection standard, maintaining strength, multi-directional articulation, and featuring a complete transformation mechanism that allows for transformation from a fighter jet to a robot structure without the need for part replacement. Furthermore, various parts of the frame are equipped with multiple 3mm shaft common standard hardpoints and 5mm joint connection shafts, enabling flexible customization and expansion with separately sold Kotobukiya assembly models for weapon styling.
"Garuda Gear Unit 2 [Diablo]" is based on the transforming frame of the first unit, [White Whale]. It utilizes a large number of new parts to recreate distinct areas such as the head, chest, shoulders, outer forearms, feet, main wings, tail wings, nose, gunblade, shield, and twin swords. Additionally, transparent parts resembling feathers have been added to the nose, wings, and shield, presenting a nightmare-like image that matches its name, in contrast to the refined functional beauty of Unit 1. The overall color scheme is also designed with the concept of "Unit 1's rival," featuring a fiery red paint job.
In addition to its characteristic complete transformation mechanism, the Variable Frame System naturally boasts a flexible range of motion, allowing for various combat poses with the included armaments: "Gunblade," "Shield," and "Twin Swords." Many parts of the unit also conceal fixed armaments, including a machine gun under the nose and Gatling guns built into both armguards, both featuring deployment mechanisms. Furthermore, the nose machine gun can connect to "Assault Effect Parts" to recreate the sense of high-speed flight!
