BANDAI CANDY, the Shokugan division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., today announced the latest product from its popular Shokugan series "Mobile Suit Gundam G-FRAME FA": "Freedom Gundam (Real Type Color) & Justice Gundam (Real Type Color)" from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED," slated for release in December 2023.
The theme of this product, "Real Type Color," originates from the color scheme used by the original Gundam mechanical designer Kunio Okawara on the 1981 "Mobile Suit Gundam" movie poster. Unlike the toy-like vibrant colors seen in the anime, this scheme employs realistic military-inspired paint colors such as deep green, sand yellow, and sea blue, combined with practical fuselage markings. This style sparked a craze in the early 1980s, fostering the subsequent development of the "MSV" series. Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED," Mr. Okawara has reinterpreted the Real Type Color scheme for the two protagonist mobile suits from the series.
The "G-FRAME FA Freedom Gundam (Real Type Color) & Justice Gundam (Real Type Color)" is based on the previously released standard version, featuring a flexible movable frame, sharp armor sculpting, and a wealth of weapon accessories. At approximately 10 cm tall, it allows for dynamic posing with a beam rifle, beam saber, shield, "Xiphias" railguns, Fatum-00, and other abundant armaments.
The overall paint scheme has been changed to Mr. Kunio Okawara's newly designed Real Type Colors, departing from the familiar blue and white of Freedom and the red tones of Justice. Freedom is given a low-visibility gray-white and deep green color scheme, reminiscent of an aerial combat machine, while Justice sports a cool blue camouflage, presenting a fresh image distinct from the original. Additionally, the accessories include a dedicated display stand printed with the mobile suit names and "REAL TYPE COLOR" text.
