Following the release of the "HG 1/100 YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie (Alto Saotome Custom)" on August 26th, BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division, creators of the robot-themed plastic model series 'HG (High Grade)', has today announced a new dedicated product for this unit: the "HG 1/100 YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie (Alto Saotome Custom) Expansion Parts Set", slated for release in November 2023. This product will be exclusively sold on PREMIUM BANDAI.
The YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie is the transformable fighter exclusively piloted by protagonist Alto Saotome, making its debut in the two theatrical films of 'Macross Frontier'. This unit was jointly developed by Shinsei Industry MF Factory and L.A.I. Company specifically to combat the alien Vajra. In addition to its standard beam and missile armaments, it utilizes ultra-high purity FOLD quartz to operate its FOLD Wave System. This not only enhances its various FOLD wave capabilities but also grants the unit nearly infinite energy, pushing beyond mechanical performance limits.
The newly released "HG 1/100 YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie (Alto Saotome Custom) Expansion Parts Set" includes newly molded additional armor for various sections, a high-power FOLD wave projector, micro missile pods, chemical rocket boosters, and other equipment. It features multiple molded colors such as white, red, gray, and dark gray, along with decals, allowing it to combine with the YF-29 main unit to form its enhanced Super Pack-equipped configuration.
Among its features, the thruster nozzle parts boast an extendable mechanism, the micro missile pods can replicate open hatches through part replacement, and the high-power FOLD wave projector, which aids Ranka and Sheryl in transmitting their songs, can also be deployed via part replacement. This product not only comes in a full-color box, a rarity for PB items, but also includes newly drawn illustration decals by character designer Risa Ebata. These high-resolution water-slide decals of Ranka and Sheryl can be applied to the YF-29 to recreate an 'itasha' (decorated vehicle) style. Furthermore, the S.M.S-themed display base can be adorned with PET stickers featuring illustrations of Ranka, Sheryl, and Alto!
