Japanese model manufacturer MEGAHOUSE's popular character-catification series, 'MEGA CAT PROJECT,' featuring the Gundam series-themed 'Mobile Suit Nyandam,' debuted two new painted prototypes at 'MEGAHOBBY EXPO 2023' from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury: 'Suletta' and 'Miorine.' Additionally, news was announced that 'Kira,' 'Athrun,' and 'Lacus' from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED are currently under development.
The currently revealed 'Suletta' and 'Miorine,' as always, feature an adorably plump, two-head-tall cat design. Their bodies are based on the Asticassia School of Technology uniform, crafted into a cat version with only the upper half. Their facial features similarly utilize characteristic dot-black eyes and an ω-shaped cat mouth, with Suletta's dotted eyebrows and Miorine's sharp gaze expressing their individual personalities. Compared to previous products with simpler cat silhouettes, these boast more intricate hair and headpiece details, allowing the charm of both characters to be immediately felt.
As for the three characters from Gundam SEED, their prototypes have not yet been exhibited. From the design sketches, their overall styling seems to revert to the original simple cat silhouette, with hairstyles expressed through cat patterns and colors. This is somewhat disappointing compared to the Suletta and Miorine figures.
