The surprise box series "TAMASHII NATIONS BOX" from BANDAI SPIRITS' collectors toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has officially released its second Ultraman-themed product today (September 23rd): "TAMASHII NATIONS BOX Ultraman ARTlized -To the Farthest Reaches of the Galaxy-" (ウルトラマン ARTlized -進め銀河の果てまでも-)! With an accessible price point and collectible size, it brings the surprise and joy of unboxing to fans all over the world! No matter which one you get, opening the box is a delight!! Today, let's dive into the charm of this Ultraman trading figure set, which spans three generations of works from the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras!
"TAMASHII NATIONS BOX Ultraman ARTlized -To the Farthest Reaches of the Galaxy-" can be seen as a moving new work born from injecting modern technology into the "SD Ultraman" series that was all the rage in the 1980s and 1990s. It features the involvement of Japanese designer Koji Yokoi, the creator of the "SD Ultraman" look, who supervised new illustrations that served as the basis for these cute, super-deformed proportions. Each character's sculpt and coloring have been completed from an artistic perspective.
This "TAMASHII NATIONS BOX Ultraman ARTlized -To the Farthest Reaches of the Galaxy-" collection includes a total of 9 different figures: 8 standard types plus 1 secret chase figure (randomly inserted). The known characters are "Ultraseven," "Ultraman Dyna Flash Type," "Ultraman Z Delta Rise Claw," "Ultraman Decker Flash Type," "Ultraman Leo," "Ultraman Geed Primitive," "Ultraman Ribut," and "Ultraman Ginga."
▼ Today we're looking at a master case containing 8 figures. The overall design features a blue and black color scheme, prominently displaying a large image of "Ultraseven" and the TAMASHII NATIONS BOX series name.
▼ Turning to the back, you can see all the figures in the lineup, including the secret chase version.
▼ Even the sides have a high-quality feel!
▼ Alright, let's open it up.
▼ A look at all sides of an individual box.
▼ The contents include the SD-proportioned Ultraman figure itself, a base with effect parts, a character card, and a small insert about TAMASHII NATIONS.
Before we take a closer look at each character, I'd like to remind all you toy collectors that although these are trading figures, there is still some assembly required, including cutting plastic parts from runners. The base and effect parts are made of both PVC and ABS plastic. If you want every little detail to look flawless, it's a good idea to have modeling tools like side cutters and a hobby knife ready.
These trading figures stand at approximately 10 cm tall. Within this compact size, the dynamically sculpted Ultraman figures and accompanying effect parts perfectly capture the energetic moment of transformation. In addition to meticulously recreating the detailed designs of each Ultraman, their poses are differentiated to reflect their unique characteristics. For example, Ultraseven is the only one with both hands raised, and there are variations between clenched fists and open palms. The effect parts, while having fixed sculpts, are arranged in various combinations to add variety to the overall display. Personally, I find that the best viewing angle is generally from 45° above.

▼ Taking these eight figures as an example, Ultraseven, Ultraman Ribut, Ultraman Geed Primitive, and Ultraman Decker Flash Type have body angles that are tilted more upward.
▼ Meanwhile, the other four—Ultraman Ginga, Ultraman Leo, Ultraman Z Delta Rise Claw, and Ultraman Dyna Flash Type—are posed more forward, allowing them to be viewed from a more level angle.
