To commemorate the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company, the original commemorative product "Disney IMAGINATION BELT", co-developed by Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., has unveiled its full details today, with an anticipated release in January 2024.
The "Disney IMAGINATION BELT" leverages Bandai's extensive experience and technology gained from years of producing Kamen Rider transformation belts. Themed around carrying dreams and realizing rich imagination, it creates a brand new world that merges numerous iconic Disney characters with Japanese Tokusatsu heroes.
The gilded ship's wheel at the center of the belt is inspired by the wheel joyfully steered by Mickey Mouse in Disney's Steamboat Willie, the world's first synchronized sound animation released in 1928. The main body of the belt features extensive gold plating and metallic paint finishes to convey a substantial, premium feel. The ten keys that unlock dreams, the "IMAGINATION KEYs", are entirely crafted from alloy material and electroplated, showcasing intricate detailing and a weighty presence.
Naturally, the "Disney IMAGINATION BELT" boasts rich sound and light mechanisms. Simply insert any IMAGINATION KEY into the side keyhole and twist, and the belt's front cover will open to reveal a built-in 2.8-inch full-color LCD screen playing corresponding visuals. Simultaneously, the exposed gears on the upper part of the belt will automatically rotate and emit exciting sound and light effects, simulating the "Imagination Energy" beginning to fill up. After this series of performances, it's as if a transformation has been completed, and you yourself become a Tokusatsu hero capable of wielding various powers!
As for the abilities? The product includes 10 IMAGINATION KEYs, each representing an iconic character from Disney's intellectual property, including Mickey, Minnie, Iron Man, Woody, Simba, Grogu, Tiana, Snow White, Moana, and Elsa. Each key not only features a unique design based on its character's story, but also triggers different visuals on the screen and distinct sound and light effects when inserted into the belt!
