Released by Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya, the "HMM (Highend Master Model)" series, which presents Zoids mechanical beasts as exquisite 1/72 scale assembly models, today announced the latest product, "EZ-004 Red Horn Marking Plus Ver.", scheduled for release in January 2024.
The EPZ-001 Red Horn was originally a Shield Liger-type Zoid developed by the Zenebas Empire, characterized by heavy armament and heavy armor, earning it the moniker "Mobile Fortress". After being acquired by the Guylos Empire, it was modified into the "Black Horn", and then, with a red paint scheme, it became the new generation "EZ-004 Red Horn". Although it shares the same name as its Guylos Empire era counterpart, its engine, armor, and weapons have all been significantly enhanced with modern technology, equipped with a rich array of armaments including various missiles, linear cannons, beam cannons, and more. This allowed a machine from over 70 years ago to still serve on the front lines, even becoming the most mass-produced main large-scale Zoid of its time.
The "HMM EZ-004 Red Horn Marking Plus Ver." is a modification based on the kit released in 2010. The main body is essentially the same as previous versions. Once assembled, the model boasts an impressive length of approximately 33 cm, featuring a sliding neck joint mechanism and a movable waist axis, combining overall strength with articulation. Additionally, it includes mechanisms such as an opening cockpit, a removable Zoid Core within the body, and the separation of small reconnaissance aircraft from the back and tail.
The armaments include a rich assortment of parts such as triple linear cannons, twin beam cannons, surface-to-surface missiles, linear laser guns, and beam guns, which can be freely mounted on various parts of the machine as desired. Unlike the regular version, this product includes newly designed water-slide decals for the body markings, enhancing the detail density of the machine's exterior. It also comes with several colorless clear molded parts, which can replace the original green clear parts, allowing for custom painting of preferred clear colors.
