BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division in Japan recently announced the latest product from the Aura Battler Dunbine series, the "HG 1/72 Dunbine" robot plastic model from the 'HG (High Grade)' series, slated for release in November 2023. This product will be sold exclusively on Bandai's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The insect-shaped robot Dunbine is a prototype Aura Battler developed in "Byston Well," an alternate world nestled between land and sea. Its developer, Shot Weapon, aimed to enhance its performance beyond the first Aura Battler, "Guied." The improved system demanded an extremely high Aura Power from its pilots, thus only three exceptionally high-Aura-powered Earthlings—Sho Zama, Todd, and Tokamak—could be summoned to pilot it. Although difficult to control, its performance could drastically change depending on the amount of Aura Power, allowing protagonists with extremely high Aura Power like Sho Zama to fully unleash its potential.
The "HG 1/72 Dunbine" utilizes completely new parts to recreate its in-show appearance. The precisely molded parts not only replicate the insect-like curved armor, but the characteristic purple coloration of Sho Zama's machine is also expressed through 5 different molding colors. Yellow sections on the head and abdomen, and red sections on the limbs, are all separate parts, eliminating the need for additional sticker application for color correction. The entire model boasts the articulation standards of the current HG series, allowing for dynamic poses with multiple movable axes.
Furthermore, the transparent wings are made with light-gathering resin infused with pearl colors, allowing for diverse visual effects depending on the angle. The two cockpit hatch parts on the chest are produced using a new "semi-mirror plating" technology, recreating the in-show setting where one can see out from the inside, but not see in from the outside. Weapon accessories include an Aura Sword with a sheath, and two sets of Aura Cannons equipped on the arms.
