BANDAI CANDY, the candy toy division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., today announced the latest product from its popular candy toy series 'Mobile Suit Gundam G-FRAME FA', the "U.C. 0079 Memorial Selection", based on the original 'Mobile Suit Gundam', slated for release in April 2024.
This product is a special commemorative release dedicated to the first series, 'Mobile Suit Gundam', which aired in 1979. It features four iconic mobile suits from the Earth Federation Forces and the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War in Universal Century 0079, including the Federation's RX-78-2 Gundam and RGM-79 GM, as well as Zeon's MS-06S Char's Custom Zaku II and MS-09 Dom. Following the series' playstyle, each mobile suit is divided into two sets: "Armor Set" and "Frame Set". Once both are collected, a complete mobile suit can be assembled.
While these four mobile suits utilize molds from previously released products, their armament specifications have some differences, and additional body markings have been printed to enhance their detailed appearance.
▼ The RX-78-2 Gundam includes its basic Beam Rifle, Beam Saber, and Shield, and also features two Hyper Bazookas to recreate its "Final Battle Specification".
▼ The MS-06S Char's Custom Zaku II includes a Heat Hawk, Zaku Machine Gun, and Zaku Bazooka. Furthermore, its thruster backpack and leg thrusters can be swapped to recreate the "High Mobility Type Zaku".
▼ The RGM-79 GM can be transformed from its standard specification, equipped with a Beam Spray Gun and a single-sided Beam Saber backpack, into a "Commander Type" with a Beam Rifle and a double-sided Beam Saber backpack.
▼ The MS-09 Dom includes armaments such as a Heat Saber, Sturm Faust, and Giant Bazooka. Its backpack and sole parts can also be swapped to recreate the space-use "Rick Dom" specification.
