Released by the HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., the 1/100 scale Gundam plastic model 'MG (Master Grade)' series, known for its excellent part separation, internal frame structure, and rich articulation mechanisms, today announced the latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam F90," the "MG 1/100 Gundam F90 Mission Pack A-Type & L-Type," scheduled for release in February 2024.
The F90-01 Gundam F90 is a new model developed in Universal Century 0111 as part of S.N.R.I.'s "FORMULA Project" to miniaturize mobile suits. Its most significant feature is the "Mission Pack" expansion system, with numerous hard points located throughout its body, allowing for quick changes of equipment to suit mission requirements. Currently, the project includes at least 26 types of Mission Packs (A-Z), and even models that previously lacked detailed settings have been redesigned by Kunio Okawara for this "F90 A to Z PROJECT" and released as MG kits.
The "A-Type Mission Pack" released this time is an Assault specification (ASSAULT) equipment, recreating the design by Kunio Okawara with completely new sculpting. It includes fuel tanks mounted on the limbs, a new handheld weapon "Beam Bazooka," and "Enhanced Mobility Units" connected to the backpack and shoulder hard points. It recreates four large thrusters at the rear, and the parts connecting to the shoulder hard points below can be deployed and stowed.
The "L-Type Mission Pack" is a Long-Range specification (LONG-RANGE) equipment, recreating its distinctive main weapon, the "Long-Range Rifle," with intricate sculpting. It features an articulated mechanism for connecting to the suspension, a detachable magazine and energy pack for reloading, and an articulated heat sink on top of the stock. The right shoulder can store two beam sabers, while the left shoulder is equipped with a precision aiming composite sensor with an articulated heat sink. It also reproduces the scope unit that deploys from the backpack and the twin missile launchers mounted on both forearms.
