From Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division, the 1/144 scale Gunpla『HG（High Grade）』series, known for its most diverse range of mobile suits, today announced the latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam Senki", the「HG 1/144 G-Line Standard Armor Type」, scheduled for release in February 2024.
Appearing in the game "Mobile Suit Gundam Senki", the RX-81『G-Line』is a prototype mobile suit developed by the Earth Federation Forces at the end of the One Year War to fully mass-produce the RX-78 series Gundam units. Unlike the RGM-79 GM, which suffered from significantly simplified specifications and reduced performance, the G-Line, while lacking a core fighter system, utilized the same Luna Titanium armor as the Gundam, possessing performance equal to or superior to the Gundam. This unit also inherited the design concept of the『FSWS Project』, allowing for the replacement of additional armor and weaponry based on mission requirements, including the performance-balanced Standard Armor, the high-mobility Light Armor, the close-combat specialized Assault Armor, and the Full Spec Custom Type which includes all the aforementioned specifications.
The「HG 1/144 G-Line Standard Armor Type」is produced with Bandai's latest technology, featuring a rich color separation design and flexible articulation mechanisms. It meticulously recreates the twin-eye camera design of the head and the details of the short-barrel beam rifle. Independent swivel joints in the forearms and pull-out knee joints further enhance the range of motion. It comes with a rich array of armaments including backpacks for ground/space use, beam sabers, and a shield.
The biggest selling point of this product is its ability to recreate the basic specifications of the「RX-81 G-Line」and the augmented「RX-81ST G-Line Standard Armor Type」by disassembling and replacing parts. It can even be equipped with a dedicated backpack featuring a pair of stabilizer wings and two Gatling guns to reproduce its full equipment form. Since multiple armor parts on the shoulders, chest, back, waist, and legs can be directly detached and swapped, we can perhaps look forward to future releases of Light Armor, Assault Armor, and other versions.
