BANDAI SPIRITS' Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS, based in Japan, has announced the latest product from the transforming alloy model series 『HI-METAL R』, the 「VF-0A Phoenix (Shin Kudo Custom) + QF-2200D-B Ghost」 from 《Macross Zero》, slated for release in May 2024.
The VF-0 Phoenix is a prototype developed by the Earth Unified Forces during the research and development of the variable fighter 「VF-1 Valkyrie」. Initially, it was only for testing and lacked combat capabilities. However, during the Unification Wars, the Anti-Unification Alliance Forces deployed the SV-51 into combat before the VF-1 was completed, forcing the Phoenix to be urgently modified into a combat specification. Despite the Phoenix still having numerous unaddressed flaws and the small-scale nuclear fusion engine for space operation not yet being fully developed, renowned pilots such as Shin Kudo and Roy Focker still flew this machine to counter the attacking SV-51s.
The 「HI-METAL R VF-0A Phoenix (Shin Kudo Custom) + QF-2200D-B Ghost」 being released this time is a special assault specification for the final battle, utilizing the drone 「Ghost」 as an auxiliary booster. The main body is a modification of the previously released VF-0S, featuring a three-stage transformation mechanism within its approximately 10-centimeter long fuselage. New parts are used to recreate the A-type characteristic head, the Ghost, and various armaments, all compatible with each mode's equipment.
