Japan's official Mobile Suit Gundam Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, announced the latest limited-edition product from "Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE," the "HG 1/144 Gundam Mk-II (Titans Specification) (21st CENTURY REAL TYPE Ver.)", scheduled for release on December 22, 2023.
In Universal Century 0087, the "Titans," an elite radical faction of the Earth Federation Forces advocating Earth supremacy, sought to assert their legitimacy over the pro-space faction "AEUG." They excluded engineers with Zeon backgrounds and appointed Franklin Bidan, protagonist Kamille's father, to lead the development of the successor to the "RX-78 Gundam" series, the mobile suit that turned the tide of the One Year War: the "RX-178 Gundam Mk-II". Although this unit possessed an extremely similar external appearance and armaments, it was entirely constructed using the latest contemporary technology. The implementation of a "movable frame" significantly enhanced its mobility, expandability, and ease of maintenance.
The "HG 1/144 Gundam Mk-II (Titans Specification) (21st CENTURY REAL TYPE Ver.)" is based on the REVIVE version kit released in 2015, featuring high-quality sculpting and part separation. Its refined and cool armor design conveys a sense of heft, while the double-jointed elbows and knees allow for dynamic action poses. It can be posed with included armaments such as the beam rifle, beam saber, bazooka, and shield.
The part molding colors have been replaced with the 21st CENTURY REAL TYPE Ver. color scheme, fully supervised by Master Kawaguchi. This color scheme originated from the realistic military style popular among Gunpla builders in the 1980s, where mobile suits were painted with practical colors and markings. The product features deeper black armor, with yellow antennas and air intakes molded in gold. It includes dedicated water-slide decals to reproduce various markings and lines, and comes in a full-color outer box with a Real Type color scheme that mimics the style of older kits.
