Japan's official "Mobile Suit Gundam" Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, recently announced the event-exclusive product from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED," the "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED 20th Anniversary MS Set [Metallic Color]." This product is now available for purchase, coinciding with the Gundam SEED series special exhibition held at GUNDAM BASE stores starting December 22, 2023.
The "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED 20th Anniversary MS Set [Metallic Color]" includes three kits: "RG 1/144 Freedom Gundam," "RG 1/144 Justice Gundam," and "HG 1/144 R13 Providence Gundam." The original molding colors, which closely matched the anime's settings, have been transformed into a rich metallic finish with pearlescent luster and metallic particles. The set also comes with a large display stand that allows you to showcase all three Gunpla simultaneously, enabling you to collect these three mobile suits that played pivotal roles in the final battle of "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED."
However, all three of these kits are older products, having been released over a decade ago. Notably, the RG Freedom Gundam is not the significantly redesigned GCP version from 2022, and thus, it inevitably shows some shortcomings when compared to modern designs. Both RG kits are likely to still have issues with certain armor parts easily coming loose after assembly. Similarly, the R13 Providence Gundam, also released in 2012, exhibits older design elements such as limited articulation and very noticeable part seams.
