To commemorate the theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM" releasing on January 26, 2024, BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division in Japan, which produces the most diverse range of 1/144 scale Gunpla in the "HG (High Grade)" series, announced that starting from the film's release date, the commemorative Gunpla product "HG 1/144 Rising Freedom Gundam [Clear Color]" will be pre-sold at theaters in Japan, with a limit of one per movie ticket.
The theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM," released nearly 20 years after the conclusion of the TV anime series, will once again be directed by Mitsuo Fukuda. It utilizes a script left by his late wife and screenwriter, Chiaki Morosawa, to develop a brand new story set in C.E. 75, following the events of "SEED-D."
After the great war, the anti-Coordinator organization "Blue Cosmos" continues to incite conflicts around the world. The formerly opposing Earth Alliance and P.L.A.N.T, along with the neutral nation Orb, jointly established the world peace monitoring organization "COMPASS." Lacus Clyne, the driving force behind ending the war, serves as its first president, and Kira Yamato and others, as members of the organization, travel worldwide to intervene in conflicts. The new mobile suit appearing in the theatrical film, the "Rising Freedom Gundam," is a mobile suit designed by the neutral nation Orb based on data from the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam and incorporating the transformation mechanism of the MVF-M11C Murasame. Its cockpit features an all-around monitor, and it is equipped with VPS armor, numerous long-range armaments, and a fighter-like MA transformation mechanism. The overall design omits the "Super DRAGOON" mobile weapon wings used as funnels, making it closer to the Freedom Gundam manufactured in C.E. 71.
The "HG 1/144 Rising Freedom Gundam [Clear Color]" is a modified version of the standard release sold through general channels. All armor parts have been changed to a colored transparent version, presenting a special texture with high translucency. The outer packaging box art also features a commemorative special edition printed with "Rising Freedom" and "Immortal Justice."
The kit features a movable joint design called the "SEED Action System," which utilizes multi-axis articulation to expand the range of motion for the neck, shoulders, and upper body, allowing for cool action poses characteristic of the SEED series. Armaments include a new beam rifle, two beam sabers, and a new shield that can deploy a beam blade. The plasma convergence beam cannons hidden in the wings and the folding railguns on the waist also feature deployment mechanisms, allowing for the reproduction of the full burst mode, a characteristic of the Freedom Gundam series. The beam shield effect parts are made from polarizing molded material that changes color depending on the angle. Furthermore, by replacing some parts, the fighter-like MA form can be reproduced.
