To commemorate the theatrical release of the anime film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM on January 26, 2024, BANDAI SPIRITS HOBBY Division in Japan has announced the second commemorative Gunpla in the 1/144 scale 'HG (High Grade)' series, which boasts the most diverse range of mobile suits. Following HG 1/144 Rising Freedom Gundam [Clear Color], they are now releasing the "HG 1/144 Destiny Gundam Spec II [Clear Color]", which will be available for pre-sale at participating cinemas in Japan starting February 2, 2024, with a limit of one kit per movie ticket. This product is also scheduled to be available for pre-order on BANDAI's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI, in late February.
The ZGMF/A-42S2 Destiny Gundam Spec II is a new mobile suit secretly recovered by the Eternal after the previous great war, severely damaged, and then repaired and improved by Morgenroete with the latest technology. In addition to adopting a cutting-edge all-around cockpit and replacing the joint armor material, the power system has also been significantly improved. The substantial increase in energy has also caused the VPS armor's color to become deeper. The armament remains largely unchanged. After Shin Asuka once again took on the role of pilot, it finally demonstrated its true combat performance.
The "HG 1/144 Destiny Gundam Spec II [Clear Color]" is based on the highly acclaimed standard kit released in 2019. The main body's gray and blue armor parts have been replaced with clear colored molded parts, while the black and red parts have been changed to metallic molded colors, creating a multi-layered, limited-edition texture. The armament currently does not appear to show any new parts, and it is uncertain whether the newly added railgun is included. The outer packaging box art also features a special commemorative edition with the movie poster printed on it.
