Japan's official Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, announced today that the event-exclusive product from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED", "FULL MECHANICS 1/100 Calamity Gundam [Clear Color]", is scheduled to be released in stores starting February 10, 2024.
GAT-X131 Calamity Gundam was developed by the Earth Alliance based on the initial five GAT-X series Gundams, serving as the successor to the Buster Gundam. It utilizes the common X100 series frame and features the more energy-efficient TP armor technology, an evolution of PS armor. This allows its energy to be channeled into a large array of weaponry, including the twin high-output long-range beam cannon "Schlag", the plasma-sabot bazooka "Todesblock", and the multi-phase energy cannon "Scylla", enabling long-range artillery combat from the rear of the battlefield. However, its heavy firepower results in low mobility, which is compensated by hover movement using thrusters.
"FULL MECHANICS 1/100 Calamity Gundam [Clear Color]" is a modification of the previously released standard version. The deep-colored exterior armor parts have been replaced with more vibrant clear light blue, clear orange, and other colors, creating a dazzling, crystal-like appearance distinct from the original. This also makes it more convenient for special customization techniques such as lighting and glow-in-the-dark paints.
The remaining specifications are essentially the same as the standard version, featuring intricately sculpted armor lines, exposed frame, and mechanical structures with high-density details, in no way inferior to recent MG SEED series products. While it doesn't have a full inner frame like an MG, the sophisticated multi-axis joint structures and interlocking mechanisms in each section provide excellent articulation and significantly reduce assembly difficulty. The weaponry faithfully reproduces the two long-range beam cannons "Schlag" on the back, the handheld bazooka "Todesblock", and the shield equipped with the "Kaefer Zwei" ram cannon, all boasting an impressive, massive size.
