The low-head-to-body ratio character figure series "Figuarts mini", released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, launched its latest product, "Kira Yamato," simultaneously with the theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM" on January 26, 2024, with a suggested retail price of 2,970 JPY (tax included).
The protagonist, Kira Yamato, was originally a Coordinator youth living on the resource satellite "Heliopolis." In C.E. 71, he was caught in a Gundam capture operation initiated by the Z.A.F.T. military, unexpectedly becoming the pilot of the Earth Alliance's secret weapon, the "Strike Gundam." His abilities as the "Strongest Coordinator" gradually awakened through countless battles, but he grew to detest the war that caused innumerable sacrifices. He later decided to join the independent faction led by Lacus Clyne, becoming a key figure in ending two major wars. Now, in C.E. 75, the setting of "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM," after the end of the great war, the anti-Coordinator organization "Blue Cosmos" continues to stir up conflicts worldwide. The formerly opposing Earth Alliance and P.L.A.N.T., along with the neutral nation Orb, jointly established the world peace monitoring organization "COMPASS." Lacus Clyne, the driving force behind ending the war, serves as its first president, and Kira Yamato and others, as members of the organization, travel worldwide to intervene in conflicts.
The "Figuarts mini Kira Yamato" is based on his pilot suit design from the theatrical film, presenting the character's charm in a low-head-to-body ratio with a total height of approximately 9 cm. The distinctive pupils are faithfully reproduced using printing and painting technology to match the anime's art style. Joints are incorporated in the shoulders and hips, allowing for articulation. Through interchangeable parts, the helmet can be held in his hand, and an additional interchangeable right arm part is included, allowing for a linked display with the separately sold "Figuarts mini Lacus Clyne" to recreate a scene of the two holding hands.
