BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS collector's toy division has announced the latest product from their popular alloy toy series, "Soul of Chogokin," the "GX-110 Great General of Darkness," based on "Mazinger Z vs. The Great General of Darkness," scheduled for release in August 2024.
The Great General of Darkness is the supreme commander of the Mycenae Empire, the main antagonist in the "Mazinger Z" series. He leads his seven generals and the Battle Beast army in their invasion of the human world. Originally General Ares, defeated by the Emperor of Darkness, his martial prowess earned the Emperor's respect, leading to his transformation into the Great General of Darkness, and his subsequent loyalty to the Mycenae Empire. While depicted differently across various works in the series, the Great General of Darkness is largely considered the most formidable foe of Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger, yet his warrior's spirit commands deep respect even from his adversaries.
Making its Soul of Chogokin debut 50 years after its first appearance, the "Soul of Chogokin GX-110 Great General of Darkness" stands approximately 21 cm tall, faithfully recreating its design from the film "Mazinger Z vs. The Great General of Darkness." Its imposing size surpasses all previous Soul of Chogokin versions of Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger. The menacing head and the pre-transformation face remaining on its abdomen are meticulously sculpted. All golden parts of the armor feature a luxurious gold electroplating finish, while the distinctive red cape is sewn from two-tone fabric and incorporates a metal wire for poseability.
Weapon accessories include his signature great sword and scabbard. The sword blade features a brilliant silver electroplating for a luxurious feel, and the scabbard is connected to the main body with a metal chain. Combined with the various articulated joints, collectors can recreate classic battle scenes against Great Mazinger.
