Japanese sculptor Kyōkichi Kōbō, known for creating lifelike dinosaurs and ancient creatures, recently announced that they have obtained a one-day license from Capcom for the "Monster Hunter" series. They will be releasing a new GK model, "Tigrex," at Japan's largest model exhibition, "Wonder Festival 2024 Winter," held on February 11, 2024. Their booth number is 2-17-09.

The Tigrex is a Flying Wyvern monster that first appeared in "Monster Hunter Freedom 2." It possesses vibrant yellow scales with blue stripes, as if warning novice hunters not to challenge it lightly. The Tigrex's temperament is extremely ferocious; upon spotting an enemy or prey, it will drop to all fours, activate its "locomotive mode," and charge at its target, delivering unexpected tail whips. Its internal organ, the "Great Roar Sac," can even transform its roars into high-impact shockwaves.

Kyōkichi Kōbō's sculpted "Tigrex" GK model captures the Tigrex's signature tail-swinging attack pose with an impressive length of approximately 23 cm. It integrates characteristics of real-world dinosaurs and reptiles, from the shape, size, and arrangement of scales across its entire body to its Tyrannosaurus-like head shape and dentition, all rendered with lifelike, specimen-quality detail. Compared to the equally realistic modeling in "Monster Hunter: World," this piece is even more refined, presenting a cool aesthetic distinct from the in-game appearance.
