Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya, at its new product announcement event "KOTOBUKIYA COLLECTION 2024" held last weekend, unveiled new information and the latest prototypes for its plastic model kits based on the Japanese robot anime "Brave Series."

The number of "Brave Series" plastic model kits announced this time was significantly fewer than in previous years, with new information revealed for only a single title, "Brave Fight." This included the painted prototype of the previously announced main Brave robot, "GREAT BAAN GAAN," and the confirmation of "Mach Spherion" for commercialization.
This "GREAT BAAN GAAN" plastic model kit's initial prototype was first revealed in 2021, but due to various reasons, it was completely redesigned and re-sculpted. Now, with the design finalized, the painted prototype has finally been showcased. Similar to previous Brave Series products, it foregoes intricate transformation and combination mechanisms, instead utilizing an articulated inner frame to maximize its powerful and cool aesthetic, along with flexible joint designs to recreate the Brave robots' signature battle poses. This time, it can also recreate the pre-combination "BAAN GAAN" form through interchangeable parts.

Furthermore, Kotobukiya also teased that "the character that can enhance GREAT BAAN GAAN" and "parts that can transform BAAN GAAN into a certain form" are also planned for commercialization. The former likely refers to "MACH SPHERION," the other Brave robot that combines with "BAAN GAAN" to form "GREAT BAAN GAAN." The kit is expected to include the SPHERION main body and an expansion weapon set, allowing for the recreation of GREAT BAAN GAAN's full armament mode. As for the latter, it likely refers to BAAN GAAN's "Dragon Form," though it is uncertain whether it will be included in the "MACH SPHERION" kit.
