Japan's official Mobile Suit Gundam Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, recently announced that the latest limited-edition product from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack", "HG 1/144 Geara Doga (Axis Shock Image Color)", will be pre-sold on February 23, 2024, at Japan's Fukuoka Mobile Suit Gundam themed facility "GUNDAM SIDE-F", which features the highly popular life-sized ν Gundam statue.
AMS-119 Geara Doga is the main mass-produced mobile suit operated by the Neo Zeon army led by Char Aznable during the "Second Neo Zeon War". This unit inherited the design concepts of high versatility, ease of operation, and ease of maintenance from the first-generation "Zaku II", and was developed based on the second-generation masterpiece "Marasai". It is equipped with standard armaments such as a beam machine gun, beam hawk, and shield, possessing performance equivalent to the "Jegan", the main mass-produced unit used by the Earth Federation Forces at the time.
In Universal Century 0093, the "Second Neo Zeon War", led by Char Aznable with the objective of initiating an Earth-cooling operation by crashing the asteroid base Axis into Earth, though seemingly concluded with Earth Federation Forces ace pilot Amuro Ray shooting down Char's Sazabi, a massive front section of Axis, destroyed by nuclear missiles, still remained and continued its descent towards Earth. At this point, Amuro, piloting the ν Gundam, along with numerous other Mobile Suits, began pushing Axis in the opposite direction. The ν Gundam's Psycho-Frame received the consciousness of all humanity in the Earth Sphere, converting it into thrust, creating a miracle known as the "Axis Shock" that pushed Axis away from Earth.
The newly released "HG 1/144 Geara Doga (Axis Shock Image Color)" is based on a modified version of the standard kit, with its parts molded in a metallic color featuring a green sheen, representing the hues bathed in the "Axis Shock". As this model was originally released in 2008, its overall part separation, color molding, and articulation design naturally do not match modern new products. However, in terms of aesthetics alone, it still boasts the coolness of a mono-eye mobile suit. Furthermore, it comes with a rich array of weapon accessories, including a beam machine gun, shield, four Sturm Fausts, and a beam hawk with two types of beam effects. The head can also be swapped between standard and commander unit specifications.
