The "HG (High Grade)" series, the most diverse line of 1/144 scale Gunpla produced by the HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS company, today announced the latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury PROLOGUE", the "HG 1/144 Gundam Lfrith Pre-Production Model", slated for release in May 2024. This product will be exclusively sold on Bandai's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The mobile suit XGF-01 Gundam Lfrith Pre-Production Model, which appeared in the prologue, is a mass-production type Gundam Lfrith developed by Ochs Earth Corporation. It is also a GUND-type mobile suit, or "GUND-ARM", that repurposes the GUND medical prosthetic technology for military use. Through a system called "Permet Score", the mobile suit can link with the human body, allowing the pilot to control the mobile suit as if it were their own limbs, utilize wireless remote-controlled weapons, and even instantly boost the mobile suit's performance significantly. Coupled with the GUND-Bits mounted on its back, which resemble adhesive mines, it poses a formidable threat. However, at the time of its development, the "Data Storm" that inflicted harm on the human body had not yet been overcome.
The "HG 1/144 Gundam Lfrith Pre-Production Model" is a modification of the previously released "HG Gundam Lfrith", utilizing numerous new parts and new molding colors for various distinct areas such as the head, backpack, and weaponry, as well as its characteristic teal body paint. The glowing Permet Score area on the chest also features a transparent black cover combined with "IMD (In-Mold Decoration) molded parts" to achieve a luminous texture. Additionally, users can choose to use the included glossy stickers for this effect.
The entire model boasts excellent color separation and part division, along with a flexible articulation design, allowing for cool shooting poses with the beam rifle. The distinctive large launchers on both sides of the backpack also conceal a precise sliding deployment mechanism for the outer armor, revealing a total of 20 GUND-Bits stored inside. Each GUND-Bit can be individually detached, and the kit also includes 6 GUND-Bit parts in an explosion effect state.
