Today, BANDAI SPIRITS' Collectors Toy Division TAMASHII NATIONS, which issues the 'METAL ROBOT SPIRITS' series combining metallic paintwork and die-cast frames, officially announced the latest product from the theatrical anime film《Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM》: the "Destiny Gundam SpecII Wings of Light & Effect Set", slated for release in August 2024.
The ZGMF/A-42S2 Destiny Gundam SpecII, repaired and improved from the Destiny Gundam, is equipped with the same weapon systems. Its distinctive backpack integrates the three 'Phantom' external equipment types: Force, Blast, and Sword. It also utilizes technologies prohibited by the Junius Treaty, such as the Hyper Deuterion Engine and Mirage Colloid particles. It can deploy 'Wings of Light' for super-acceleration and scatter Mirage Colloid particles to create afterimages. In the movie's depiction, it even releases dozens of 'clones' that act completely independently of the main unit for coordinated attacks.
The "METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Destiny Gundam SpecII Wings of Light & Effect Set" is fundamentally the same as the previously released version for the Destiny Gundam. It includes a pair of impressive 'Wings of Light' effect parts, beam boomerang rotation effects, and larger 'Palm Beam Cannon effects', 'Arondight' Beam Sword, and High-Energy Long-Range Beam Cannon compared to the parts included with the 'METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Destiny Gundam SpecII'. When combined with the separately sold main unit, it can display powerful, perspective-driven poses reminiscent of anime scenes.
The difference from previous products is that all parts, including the Wings of Light effects and various armaments, have been given a brand new paint application to match the new color settings of the 'Destiny Gundam SpecII'. It features beam effects with higher gloss, deeper weapon colors, and even the specially designed Wings of Light display stand, which shares the same pattern, has been given a new laser foil processing, presenting an extremely brilliant texture.
