Japanese model manufacturer KOTOBUKIYA has announced the latest additions to its incredibly diverse line of customizable model parts, 'M.S.G': the "Heavy Weapon Unit 46 Gunblade Lance 2 (Orange/Black)" and "Heavy Weapon Unit 47 Gunblade Lance 2 (Purple/White)", slated for release in June and July 2024, respectively.
The Gunblade Lance, originally released in 2016 as the 12th installment of the Heavy Weapon Unit series, is a popular multi-form weapon featuring separation, combination, and transformation mechanisms. Its design allows for the free disassembly of individual parts, enabling various combinations to recreate transformations. In addition to the basic "Gunblade Lance" form, it can transform into multiple other configurations such as a rifle, dual swords, poleaxe, short axe, greatsword, and more. It is compatible with KOTOBUKIYA's Frame Arms, Frame Arms Girl, Megami Device, and other model kit series for customization.
This revamped "Gunblade Lance 2" features changes to some detailed sculpts, part segmentation, and color separation. In collaboration with Kikuchi Seisakusho Co., Ltd., the product is now manufactured domestically in Japan, addressing some color separation limitations of the previous version and introducing more streamlined flame blade effects. The shape and segmentation of the long handle have also been altered. While it no longer includes the short axe mode of the old version, it boasts a richer total of 8 modes, including "Flame Gun Axe", "Dual Swords", "Dagger", and "Burst (all parts)". Unit 46 utilizes black and clear orange molding colors, while Unit 47 uses white and clear purple.
