The classic alloy toy series "Chogokin", released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectors' toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., today announced the confirmed commercialization of the mobile suit "Gundam Calibarn" from "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury", with pre-orders expected to open on March 8, 2024.
The X-EX01 Gundam Calibarn is a prototype GUND-type mobile suit developed by the Vanadis Institute. After losing to Lfrith in the bidding phase, its development files were completely deleted. The remaining prototype was seized and sealed by the Space Assembly League during the Vanadis Incident 21 years ago. It was only unsealed at the end of the main story to combat the "Quiet Zero" project and piloted by the protagonist, Suletta Mercury. Its appearance resembles a witch carrying a broom. It is equipped with a "Variable Rod Rifle" that features four thrusters and high firepower, and is also compatible with the GUND-Bits of the Aerial series. However, lacking a Data Storm filter, it relentlessly pursues machine performance while completely disregarding pilot safety, earning it the reputation of a "monster."
While official product information for "Chogokin Gundam Calibarn" has not yet been fully revealed, some of its features were previously hinted at on past Chogokin series product pages. In addition to the essential use of alloy materials for certain parts, its pristine white exterior armor is sculpted with extremely high-density panel lines, grooves, and other details. This allows it to display cool depth and layering even with a monochromatic color scheme. The product also incorporates multiple LED lighting mechanisms. Not only do the green twin-eye cameras light up, but the forehead, chest, and thighs can also illuminate, recreating its appearance when activating the "Permet Score."
