The S.H.Figuarts action figure series, released by Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division and known for its exceptional sculpting and coloring, is set to release its latest product based on the anime "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story": the "S.H.Figuarts Kenshin Himura". It will retail for 7,480 JPY and is scheduled for release in July 2024!
The protagonist of the manga series "Rurouni Kenshin" (るろうに剣心-明治剣客浪漫譚-) by Japanese manga artist Nobuhiro Watsuki, Kenshin Himura, is modeled after Kawakami Gensai, one of the four great hitokiri of the Bakumatsu era, and is the 14th successor of the "Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū" style. Originally named Shinta Himura, he changed his name to Kenshin after being taken in as a disciple by Hiko Seijuro. During the Bakumatsu period, he was an assassin for the Ishin Shishi, earning the moniker "Hitokiri Battōsai" due to his exceptional swordsmanship, ruthless killing, and mastery of battōjutsu. However, he later disappeared and swore an oath never to kill again, drawing his sword only to protect his friends and loved ones...
The "S.H.Figuarts Kenshin Himura" action figure stands approximately 13.5 cm tall, faithfully recreating Kenshin's distinctive red long hair and facial scar. Despite wearing a hakama, the articulated design allows for a wide range of poses. In addition to a standard expression, it includes 4 interchangeable face parts: a gentle smiling face, a closed-eye smiling face, a battle-gritting teeth face, and an adorable dizzy face. Paired with the "Sakabatō" accessory, these allow for recreating various scenes, from daily life to intense battles! The interchangeable belt accessory allows the scabbard to be attached to the belt or removed without affecting the figure's appearance~
